When in doubt yank it out with a chain. This morning we got up early trying to avoid the heat wave. It was 82 degrees and 75% humidity at 9am. We got to work on pulling out the remaining bush and tree roots that were left from chopping them down. Since we didnt have a backhoe and there was no way we were going to spend hours digging them each up with a shovel we took the easy way out. We wrapped a chain around each of the left over root systems then a town strap to the truck then yanked them out of the ground. Easy, breezy, we were done in just under an hour. I had no idea that yanking stuff out of the ground would be fun. But, now all the ugly bushes are gone and all thats left is cleaning out the dead or dying ivy that seems to come back no matter what you do to it. Im beginning to think that even burning it wouldnt kill it. What horrible stuff! Im off to buy plants for the planting bed this afternoon and if it cools down this evening, I might even get to plant some.
