Money Pit

When we moved into the house there was only 1 garage door opener despite the fact that there were 2 doors. The 1 opener that was there was the original one that came with the house. It hardly worked and when it did, it was loud and would get caught for a second and sounded like it was going to jump off the tracks. Needless to say we didnt use the garage doors very much. We bought a new opener, Todd installed it but it still didnt work. Since this was all the original 17 year old equipment we figured it had to do with that. Todd had a professional come out and inspect the doors today. He calls me to let me know that all the springs, rollers and tracks needed to be replaced and the opener we just bought was faulty. Then he lays it on me that they want $450 to replace all the needed parts for both doors. What the heck? $450 to replace the stuff on the doors? They have to be crazy! No way was I going to pay that. Todd calls me back a little while later and the guy knocked it down to $300 for both doors. That sounds a little more like it to me. But, that wasnt exactly an expense I wanted to pay right now.

  2. No, Todd took down the old opener and took down the faulty opener this morning. We are going to take it back to Lowe's and exchange it.
