Hurricane Dennis

What a night! Hurricane Dennis came ashore yesterday afternoon and soon after we started getting very hard, driving rain and high winds. The rain and wind would come and go but the worst was over night. The ground was already pretty saturated from the storms we received from Tropical Storm Cindy last weekend/week. We had a river running through our front yard and this morning when we went downstairs to the basement/garage area we found water in 2 different places. Apparently there are a couple of small cracks in the cement walls about halfway up and water was spurting in through them. We swept out the water as best we could. We are worried, water is pooling up behind the wall because of poor drainage and has nowhere else to go. With rain in the forecast for the rest of today and on and off through at least Saturday we will be busy keeping an eye on everything. We were lucky, our neighbor had a tree fall over his driveway. We are hoping and praying that doesnt happen to us, we have a tree in the yard (below) that is likely to go at any time and its right next to the house. We already decided that we need to have it removed ASAP.
