The next day happened to also be my regularly scheduled monthly appointment with my OBGYN. I weighed in at 141 pounds, I hadn't gained even one single pound in the last month. I felt terrible. I haven't been having as many episodes of sickness, maybe 4 or 5 over the month span and have been eating much better so I was pretty shocked when I saw the scale. If you take into consideration that the baby has grown, then I actually lost weight again. I know this is all taking a toll on my body and I worry that its also taking a toll on the baby as well. She needs the food I eat to nourish her body and to grow. I'm almost considering adding Ensure to my diet to get extra calories and protein in. Aside from that, my doctor asked me to start taking DHA supplements. He also asked me if we were planning on having any more babies to which I answered an emphatic NO. He laughed and said that was probably a good idea considering how rough this pregnancy is going. My doc is a real jokester isn't he? I was also a chick on a mission. At my last appointment he was unable to see the bottom portion of the baby's face and I asked about that. He took me in the ultrasound room and did a quick scan. Once again the turkey was hiding the bottom half of her face and wouldn't move no matter how much I prodded at her. He did say that she was head down and very low then made the comment, "She looks all ready to go!" Great! I then said something to him about hoping she hadn't developed any boy parts in the last month, hoping he got the hint, so he ran the wand over there and got a terrific shot of girl parts, one of the best Ive had. Whew! At least now I wont have to worry about all the girl stuff Ive bought and that is on my registry. With my baby shower coming up on February 1st, I would have hated to have changed it all or worse yet, returned a bunch of stuff. So, no more worrying from me on that front!
Speaking of my baby shower, my best friend Kim is throwing me my first baby shower and I'm so excited! It will be on February 1st which is a bit early but she is also pregnant and due at the very beginning of March. Both of us were a bit worried she might be early so to be safe, we decided to hold it earlier. She sent out the invitations last week and I was thrilled when I got mine! Its pink and has a cherry blossom design which is my favorite.
Jackson started his advanced class on Monday. It was all day long, he was only in his regular classroom long enough to drop off his backpack and to go to 'specials' (PE, art, music, etc) with them. He said he liked the class and his new teacher. There is an upcoming open house for parents to check it out and to talk to the teacher so Ill learn more then. So far, so good!
