All roads now lead to motherhood

I'm down to 10 weeks to go and it really seems like crunch time. So much is going on, the crib and dresser are ready to be picked up tomorrow, the wainscoting and chair rail are due to be put up in 2 weeks, painting will be done shortly thereafter and we are narrowing down our choices on baby gear.

Yesterday though, we made a big purchase that has been coming for quite a while, a new car for me. Most of you know I'm a fanatic about my MINI, its my dream car and I have loved driving it every single day Ive had it. With the baby on the way, it became clear that yes, we could fit Jackson and the baby in the back. It could be done, but not without being a fairly big pain in the butt. It took me a while to come to grips with that fact and the more I attempted to shop for a car seat and stroller that would fit in my MINI, the more it became clear to me that I would have to let the car go. We began looking in December for my MINI's replacement and I wont lie, it was a struggle. My picture of what I would drive and Todd's picture of what we needed clashed repeatedly. I was stubbornly trying to hang on to some semblance of fun and coolness while he wanted enough room to transport everyone and all the possible stuff they might have. As time went on, we slowly started narrowing the list after visiting dealership after dealership until a couple weeks ago when it became pretty clear that the BMW X3 or the larger X5 would be our choice. We of course disagreed on the two, I wanted the X3, he wanted the X5. Yesterday, we decided to go to the dealership and see what happened. As we walked up and down the row of X3's and X5's the bickering continued. Finally we drove an X3 first followed by an X5 which made all the difference. Todd didn't like how the X5 handled or how slow it was so finally the X3 was the one. Everything was fine until it came time to get my things out of the MINI. It was difficult to see the MINI so depersonalized. As we pulled away I cried and Jackson cried too. That was heartbreaking. Its going to be a serious adjustment for me to drive the X3 even though its a really nice car. The MINI was the best car Ive ever driven and everything else will likely pale in comparison. Yes, I'm sad over a vehicle. I know most of you don't get it, I suppose you would have to love cars to understand. Here are some pictures of our new X3, its in amazing shape and very nice. Its black with terracotta interior.
