Im happy to report that Im slowly feeling better. Either the steroids are working or Im getting out of that morning sickness period, Im grateful no matter the reason. Ive also been able to cut back on my other medicines which is great news since I really feel uneasy taking so many things. Today, I finally got in for my flu shot and believe me, I was whining the whole way.
Im busy the next few days volunteering in Jackson's class all in preparation for their Fall party on Thursday. Tomorrow his teacher has me taking pictures of the kids for a popsicle stick frame project then getting them developed. Thursday Ill be back in class for the party, clean up ,then to go to lunch with Jackson, if I can handle the smell. We will see.
Friday is a big day for us. Since I am older (it was weird to hear that) and have had a couple miscarriages in a row my DR has recommended that I go in for whats called an NT scan for short or Nuchal Translucency screening for long. To quote from a website:
"This prenatal test (also called the NT or nuchal fold scan) can help your healthcare practitioner assess your baby's risk of having Down syndrome (DS) and some other chromosomal abnormalities as well as major congenital heart problems. The NT test uses ultrasound to measure the clear (translucent) space in the tissue at the back of your developing baby's neck. Babies with abnormalities tend to accumulate more fluid at the back of their neck during the first trimester, causing this clear space to be larger than average."
The screening does not give you a diagnosis but it simply looks for measurements within a "normal" range. Since amnio can be dangerous this is a first step to determine whether you should go on to have amnio. Im trying not to be nervous but instead look at the positive side of the scan, I get to see the baby again and for quite a while too. The other bonus will be the possibility that they will be able to determine if we are having a boy or a girl.
Im very hopeful that I will feel good the next couple of busy days, if I ever needed to feel decently, its now.
