Inauguration
Thanks for checking out our family blog, we are excited to get it off the ground and this should be easier to update than a regular website. We have been in our new house almost 1 month to the day, its hard to believe. We have been going non-stop since we closed and it isnt showing any sign of slowing down. The 4th of July weekend should provide a much needed respite to the craziness. In case you were wondering, respite = yard work. We have quickly become those crazy people who spend half their weekends are either Lowes or Home Depot or in their yard. I keep telling Todd that we should have bought stock in Lowes (our favorite of the two) before we bought the house. At least that way we could recoup some of our money!

As you can probably tell, the previous owners werent too interested in yard work. Ivy has completely taken over the back "yard" and has made its way to the front planting bed which is nothing but a bunch of over-grown, ugly bushes and trees. I spent 2 days chopping down the huge holly bush that blocks the front door and leveling the bushes on the other side of the entry way. It has made a huge difference. We have also removed all the small bushes that were randomly scattered about in the half of the plating bed closest to the door. The second half promises to be a major pain. Thank God for chain saws. We also plan to remove the ivy by the garage doors and under the deck, plant the front planting bed and by the garage, chop down the bradford pear in the front yard, begin clearing out the wooded back yard, put up lattice under the deck, stain the deck, and paint the front door and shutters. Short list huh? I also bought 2 beautiful Hydrangeas that bloom continuously throughout the season. I cant wait to plant them.
